The Impact of Example

1 Corinthians 4:2: “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful”. We as servants of God must be faithful in all things. Faith is an essential requirement for true discipleship.

1 Corinthians 4:9-17: The apostles of the Lord are set specifically to be examples of the Lord. Being a good example is the responsibility of every follower of the church. The apostles and prophets have high standards as they have been called to callings of great responsibility and leadership. Each person in general has the responsibility to be an example of goodness; and example of Christ.

Alma 39: 11-12. This teaches that there is really no validity in our words, if our actions don’t match what we think. We have to be entirely who we say we are. If we say one thing and do another it only proves that we lack the validation in our beliefs. It shows that we really don’t have that primary faith to uphold our personal beliefs and decisions.

3 Nephi 8:1: In this verse a man was given power to do many miracles because had lived his life with complete honesty to his beliefs. His beliefs defined his actions which led to righteousness and additional power.

When we live what we know we show our faith to God. As we learned earlier, faith is the primary characteristic, and essential one, of the true disciple of Christ. When we act on this faith we have the ability to show our devotion to the Lord and what He requires of us. The Lord needs us to devote ourselves entirely to Him. He knows the difference between real conversion and just partial.

The power of being an example can impact not only the lives of others, but our own. It brings  a sense of self satisfaction to the individual. A feeling of empowerment for being able to live to the standard we are aspiring to become. At the same time it is a great way to share the gospel and to bring others to the knowledge of the truth. Our example speaks louder than our words and can impact often times with much greater force. The Savior is the greatest example, He led the way that we need to follow in order to receive complete happiness in this life. If we follow the example of Christ our lives and the lives of those around us will feel of His light and happiness.
